Disaster day

Today can only be described as a disaster.  It was meant to be a milestone day but it was a fail on all fronts.

It all started in the morning when I needed something out of the loft.  I was feeling a bit lazy and couldn't be bothered getting the ladder down to climb up.  Instead I thought it a better idea to hoist Henry up and have him dig about in the loft for the box I needed.  Bad idea.  Very bad idea.  Why I thought I could lift Henry is beyond me.  I managed to twinge my back in the process and it aches.  It hurts to bend or twist.  Not a good start to the day.

Today was also the day Buster was to meet his school teacher and have his Best Start Assessment before commencing school on Monday.  When we arrived at school Buster hopped out of the car and slammed his finger in the door.  He screamed and screamed.  I rescued his finger but it was bruised and bloodied.  There were lots of tears and he was beside himself.  I got him into the school for bandaids, ice packs, water, you name it, but he would have none of it.  Three kindergarten teachers tried to console him and get him prepared for his one-on-one with the teacher but it wasn't going to happen.  He was too traumatised.  We tried to do his assessment with me in the room as a comfort but he would not cooperate, so they will try again when he officially starts school on Monday.

I got him home for lots of cuddles and TLC and he carried his wounded finger around in a tissue.  Poor little man.  Fingers now crossed his first day of school is less dramatic.
