I was cooking dinner. The kids were hungry. The homemade spicy wedges baking away smelt wonderful. I was slightly dubious the kids would reject them because I'd made them a bit different. I pulled them out of the oven and Milly entered the kitchen. She looked at the wedges on the baking tray and then looked sympathetically up at me.
Milly: They smell good Mum. You've actually really tried.
For the record, the wedges did taste pretty amazing and she and Henry devoured them. Boo had a nibble but wasn't a fan.
Also, for the record, I try all the bloody time.
