Things Milly says #15

The kids are all back at school.  Milly usually does her own hair in a ponytail for school.  Sometimes she'll ask me to do a plait.  First day back at school for Term 3 and she asked if I could do a fishtail.   The conversation went like this.

Milly:  Mum, do you know how to do a fishtail hairstyle?

Me:  No.

Milly:  I do.  I want one for school.  I'll show you how to do it on this doll.

She proceeds to demonstrate a fishtail hairstyle on a Barbie doll.

Milly:  Do you think you can do that?

Me:  Sure.  I'll give it a go.

Milly:  Well, practice on this doll and then show me to prove it.

I then proceed to hair wrangle a fishtail on Barbie.  I then present it to Milly for her assessment.

Me:  How's this?

Milly:  Good.  Now you can do it on my hair and then I'll need a mirror so I can see if you've done it right.

Me:  What if I take a photo to show you instead?

Milly:  Yes.

I now present the photo.

Buster's tooth

Buster's tooth continues to wobble and is still a week or two away from actually coming out.  His new adult tooth has already broken through and is growing behind his loose baby tooth.

Buster doesn't believe in the tooth fairy.  He thinks the parents hide the money.  His belief is that scientists haven't yet invented a potion that can shrink a grown person to fairy size.  Because of this, there can be no tooth fairy.  Also, fairies are too small and couldn't possibly carry something as heavy as a tooth and/or money.

It wobbles at last

He's 6 and 3/4 years old.  Finally, at long last, he has his first wobbly tooth.  He was a bit upset about it at first.  Too frightened to eat.  Nervous about what might happen.  However, when confronted with the decision to not eat a choc top ice cream because his tooth might come out..... well, he quickly got over it.

He's now used to his wobbly tooth and unconsciously keeps moving it with his tongue.  I think it's a few weeks away from actually coming out.  Watch this space.

Project Repaint - the reveal

FRONT DOOR

A huge transformation for the front door going from a timber frame to an aluminium one.  We reconfigured the windows and added louvres for ventilation.  Very happy with our modern looking front.  Next step is to look at shutters or blinds for these windows.  We are lucky our front garden gives us privacy and we haven't felt the need to rush and cover up the windows.  We quite like the openness of it.

STREET FRONTAGE

With rotted timbers replaced it was nice to say goodbye to the yellow and herald in more contemporary colours.

KITCHEN SIDE

There is still plenty of work to be done on this side of the house (namely the courtyard and fencing).  Hoping to spend more time out here when winter is over.

BEDROOMS/CARPORT SIDE

BACK

We didn't get the pergola painted because we plan on tearing it down and putting in a deck with a new pergola.  The current ground has a slope to it which doesn't make it practical for outdoor furniture.  A deck will level it out and make it a more functional space.

ENTRANCE

Our painter did some interior painting for us.  Our open plan lounge room, dining and upper hall way all needed some refreshing.  We had it painted Dulux Natural White to match the kid's bedrooms I painted myself.  Originally, we were not going to have the maroon coloured feature wall repainted, mainly because we couldn't agree on a colour.  However, our hand was forced when our painter started spot repairing the timber.  We decided to paint it the same black as our front door.
